Policies

Shipping and returns, privacy, and terms. Written in plain English, because a policy nobody can read isn't protecting anyone.

Shipping & returns

Where we ship

Australia and New Zealand. We've kept the first print run to those two so we can control the postage cost and be honest about the delivery date. Join the list on our site and we'll tell you when we open up further.

Cost

Shipping is free anywhere in Australia. To New Zealand it's a flat $15, tracked. One rate per country, shown at checkout before you pay, regardless of how far out you are — a farm in the Kimberley costs the same as a flat in Fremantle.

When your order ships

The 2027 calendar is a pre-order. It ships in December 2026, to be on your wall before the new year starts.

For delivery before Christmas, order by 8 December 2026 in Australia, or by 4 December 2026 in New Zealand. New Zealand is earlier because it travels by international post and Australia Post's own last send date for New Zealand is 9 December — we'd rather have a few days in hand than none. Orders after those dates ship in January 2027 — still in good time to sit down and set your year.

You'll hear from us twice between ordering and receiving: once in November with an update on the print run, and once on the day your parcel is dispatched, with a tracking number.

Delivery time

Once dispatched, allow 5–8 business days within Australia and 10–15 business days to New Zealand. Both are tracked the whole way. Regional and remote addresses, and the weeks either side of Christmas, take longer again.

How it arrives

Rolled in a triangular postal box. Unroll it and leave it flat under something heavy for a day if it wants to curl — that's normal for a rolled poster, not a fault.

Before your order ships

Change your mind at any point before dispatch and we'll refund you in full. No reason needed, no form. Reply to your order confirmation email and we'll process it. Refunds go back to your original payment method, usually within 5–10 business days.

Damaged, faulty, or not as described

Tell us within 30 days and we'll replace it or refund you, whichever you prefer. Photograph the problem and reply to your order email — you won't need to post the damaged one back.

Changed your mind after it arrives

We'll accept a return within 30 days of delivery if the calendar is unused, unmarked and in its original condition. Return postage is at your cost, and we'll refund the purchase price once it's back with us safely. Please post it rolled in a tube or the original box — a folded calendar can't be resold and can't be refunded.

If something goes wrong in transit

Damaged: photograph it and reply to your order email. We'll send a replacement.

Lost: if tracking stalls or your parcel doesn't arrive, contact us and we'll chase it with the carrier and make it right.

Wrong address: please check your delivery address at checkout. If a parcel comes back to us because the address was incorrect we'll happily resend it, though we may need to ask you to cover the second postage.

Your rights under consumer law. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, or the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act and Fair Trading Act if you're ordering from New Zealand. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded. You're entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to have goods repaired or replaced if they aren't of acceptable quality. Those rights apply regardless of anything written above.

Privacy

Who we are

This Year is operated by Mike and Melissa Graham, trading as The Garage People, ABN 53 687 702 403, based in Western Australia. Contact us at hello@thisisouryear.com.au.

What we collect

  • When you order: your name, email address, delivery address, phone number if you give one, and details of what you bought.
  • When you join our email list: your email address, and your name if you give it.
  • When you visit: standard technical information such as browser type and pages viewed, collected by our hosting provider.

What we never see

We do not collect or store your card details. Payments are processed by Shopify Payments and your card information goes directly to them. We never have access to it.

Why we collect it

To fulfil your order, send you order and delivery updates, respond when you contact us, and meet our record-keeping obligations. We use it for nothing else.

Marketing

We'll only send you marketing email if you've asked for it. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. Order and delivery emails are transactional — you'll receive those for any order you place, because you need them.

Who we share it with

Only the services required to get your calendar to you:

  • Shopify — our store and order platform
  • Shopify Payments — payment processing
  • Australia Post — delivery, which requires your name and address
  • Microsoft — our email provider

We do not sell your information to anyone, ever, and we don't share it for anyone else's marketing.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept as long as we're required to for tax and consumer law purposes. Email list details are kept until you unsubscribe.

Access and correction

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@thisisouryear.com.au and we'll respond within a reasonable time. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, or the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Terms

Who you're buying from

This Year, operated by Mike and Melissa Graham, trading as The Garage People, ABN 53 687 702 403, Western Australia.

Prices

All prices are in Australian dollars. We are not currently registered for GST, so no GST is charged on your order.

Pre-orders

The 2027 calendar is sold as a pre-order. Your payment is taken when you order, and your calendar is dispatched from December 2026.

We only accept pre-orders for stock we intend and expect to produce. The first print run is already in production and due with us in November 2026.

If anything changes we will tell you — by email, as soon as we know, rather than letting a date pass in silence. If we can't supply your calendar within a reasonable time of the stated date, you're entitled to a full refund, and we'll offer you one without you having to ask.

You can also cancel and be refunded in full at any time before dispatch, for any reason.

Your order

Placing an order is an offer to buy. We accept it when we send your order confirmation. If we can't fulfil an order — for example if something is listed in error, or a payment fails verification — we'll contact you and refund you in full.

Accuracy

We try to describe and photograph the calendar accurately. Colours vary slightly between screens and print, which is the nature of printed products rather than a fault. Images showing tasks marked on the calendar are examples only.

Your rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or under New Zealand consumer law where it applies. Where that law applies, it prevails over anything written here.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia.
